This page is a proclamation of our love, appreciation, and surprisingly deep knowledge of boats. Yep, boats. We love ‘em. And we’d really like to work on a boat account. Uh-huh.

Mmmm…salty.
The delightful and seaworthy Flicka. It’s just big enough.

When I was in high school my dad bought a 21 foot dory from Boat Specialties in Salem, Oregon and we spent the summers fishing commercially for salmon. I would
always get seasick the first week until I got used to the rolling and the fumes from the big two-cycle outboard.
We went out through the mouth of the Salmon River where his resort development, Cascade Head Ranch, was located. We had to time the waves and more than once ended up airborne with the 20 pound lead weights slamming the tackle boxes as we landed on the other side of the breaker.
The Oregon dory evolved from the traditional Grand Banks dory with
modifications for an outboard engine that stretched the mid-section and eliminated the raised stern of the double-ended Grand Banks. This made it more of a half-dory, really. Most were flat-bottomed for beach launching and landing. But ours was a modified V bottom for trailer launching into the river, and for a more stable and comfortable ride. Very seaworthy little craft.
This, I would say, cemented my love of boats. To this day, I still want an Oregon dory very badly. And a Calkins Bartender. And a Cascade 36. And a Swamscott sailing dory. And an Ohlson 38. And a Tollycraft runabout. And a classic Ed Monk sedan from the 40’s…

October 28, 2008 Imagery that inspires us…
I wanted to share some favorites of ours that inspire us in our work.
- Whether it be the french design, the tactile materiality, or the pure beautiful forms, Wally Power Boats have always inspired me. Take a look below at some of my favorite images – whether power or sail. Beautiful.

We actually love boats so much, I wrote a song about them. Just now. The melody is kind of hard to describe, but it’s sort of a cross between Frank Sinatra, an old sea shanty, “Popeye The Sailor Man” and the sound of foghorns in the night. It’s a very boatish composition. Hit it, Maestro.
Boat, You Float My Boat
Hey, boat, you float my boat.
I’d rather have you than a castle with a moat.
From your bowsprit to your cute little transom
your sweet rakish lines are holding my heart ransom.
I dream about you while I’m walking my goat
Oh boat, you float my boat.
Boat, please take off your coat.
Stop feigning reluctance and acting remote.
We both know this crazy attraction was meant to be
You are a client, and we are an agency.
This destiny has no antidote
’cause boat, you float my boat.
Boat, you’re such a boat.
You sit in the water, you don’t sink, you float.
The shipwright who framed you is Mr. Magoo
when it comes to seeing the brand that’s inside you.
Together we’ll sing note for note
the true song…of the boat…that floats my boat.

Best Line: Stop feigning reluctance and acting remote!
That screenshot of the WallyBoats site looks great .
Thanks for the story – how long did you go out at sea at a time?
